Blue Mountain Council 2008 Training Calendar
Scout leaders are not required to attend the training offered by their own distict; they may attend any training hosted by
any district that is convenient in terms of schedule and location.  But becoming trained is expected, because

Cubmasters, Pack Committee Members, Den Leaders, Webelos Den Leaders, and Assistants - Complete New Leader Essentials and Cub Scout Leader Specfics, plus the online Youth Protection Training
Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters (incl. LDS 11-Year Old Scout Leaders) - Complete New Leader Essentials, Boy Scout Leader Specifics, Outdoor Leader Skills, plus the online Youth Protection Training
Troop Committee Members - Complete New Leader Essentials and Troop Committee Challenge, plus the online Youth Protection Training
Varsity Coaches and Assistants - Complete New Leader Essentials, Varsity Scout Specifics, and Outdoor Leader Skills, plus the online Youth Protection Training
Venture Crew Advisors and Associate Crew Advisors - Complete New Leader Essentials and Venturing Specifics, plus the online Youth Protection Training
Note: New Leader Essentials need only be taken once (not necessary to repeat for each new Scouting position)
Where does BIGHORN fit into this?  Bighorn is supplemental and ongoing training.  You still need to attend the basic training courses listed above to be rated as a TRAINED Scout leader.  Bighorn provides contininuing education to help you put the FUN in your Scouting program.
These Council Training Courses are a part of BIGHORN each year
BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) - required training for leaders of cub scout pack campouts
Den Chief Training - training for Boy Scouts who serve as aides to Den Leaders
Philmont Orientation - opportunity to learn about training opportunities at Philmont Scout Ranch
